When Valerie first came onto the scene, she was secretly working as a showgirl in Boston . Various bits about her history were slowly revealed as she came home and interacted mainly with her father, Jonathan. Having such high standards for his children, Jonathan certainly wouldn't except any career for Valerie to pursue that didnt revolve around the law.

Desperate to break free from the harsh walls she had lived behind her entire life, Valerie had fled to Boston- her entire family was under the assumption that she was working as a paralegal. However, it soon came to light that Valerie was working in a completely different field than anyone perceived her to be in- when Rick learned of such he vowed that he would keep his mouth shut to their parents as long as Valerie didnt reveal to Jonathan that Rick was secretly dating Kayla. While the latter eventually would be exposed, Rick has kept his word and has since never revealed her true "occupation" to their parents.

Many mysteries still surround Valerie's decisions- why exactly would someone who came from such an affluent family and had all the money in the world resort to stripping? Furthermore, what exactly kept her in Boston so long?

Valerie returns to Pacifica Heights after the quake devastates the community as she vows to now be their for the family as they try to rebuild their lives. How long will Valerie actually stick around though?
