Scene: The Coleson Residence.
Lindsey
peers out the window and
produces a warm smile when she spots her son parking his car in the driveway. He
soon exit’s the vehicle and wraps around the car to open the door for Veronica
.
Apparently they have worked out their differences for the time being. Lindsey is
just happy that she will have her son with her this year. While her daughter
Leslie is still touring in Europe, she thanks God that she was reunited with her
son last year.

She remembers when he first revealed that he wanted to serve in the military. There wasn’t a night she didn’t shed a tear while he was gone…
Luke excitedly walks through the front door and yells out that he’s arrived. Veronica seems just as enthusiastic to be here today.
"Oh Luke!" Lindsey embraces her son with a tight hug and soon follows suit with Veronica.
"Thank you so much for having me over this year," Veronica says. "I really appreciate you taking me in like this."
"Oh, no need to thank us at all, Veronica. We’re glad to have you."
"Where are Gram and the others?"
"Your grandmother
is on her way with your grandpa, Drake
and Karen
. Ruth is upstairs resting and your father is in the living room. I’m just cooking away….go see your father
in the living room. I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to see you."
"Can I help with anything in the kitchen?" Veronica asks.
"Oh no, dear. I have everything handled quite fine. Thank you though."
Suddenly Lindsey’s phone rings loudly. Luke reminded her that the phone’s volume was a sign that she was getting old and hard of hearing.
"Yes, this is Lindsey."
"Lindsey, this is Barb. Hey, I’ve got some news for you."
"I hope it’s good news…"
"Well, it’s news that came a bit early….Karen just went into labor."
"You’re kidding me?"
"No! It looks like we’re going to have some new life in the family to be thankful for today."
"Are you with them now?" Lindsey inquires.
"I am. We’re on our way to the hospital now."
"Oh God…well I have all this food prepped for dinner. What should I do?"
"I suggest you get Bo and Luke and come down to the hospital. It looks like we’re going to have Thanksgiving dinner at SB Memorial this year…"
